Nowadays, in our western european countries, computers are almost everywhere. And with them, keyboards and other mouses. Both of  these equipments are now widely wireless and powered on by batteries. In addition, they are often used intensively on a daily basis. Which means there is a lot of energy created while clicking or typing that is unused.   Using this mechanical energy produced by repetitive typing or clicking to reload the battery's energy would be a convenient and...

Observation: Recycled paper is more toxic than virgin paper. And it is a very important weakness for a “green” product. Its toxicity is due to the presence of different chemical agents from its previous life (inks, paints or adhesives). The idea comes from the high consumption of sticky notes in offices. To reduce the toxicity of the recycled paper, recycle the adhesives of your sticky notes!  And You will get recycled paper, and recycled adhesive. Here, the main challenge is the way...

When airplanes are retired from service, they are generally placed in an aircraft graveyard, waiting for a hypothetical solution of recycling. But, why should we wait to use them? Cut their wings and you will get an amazing mobile home. The illustration picture shows the fleet of a former American airline, MetroJet. It is mainly composed of Boeing 737. Each plane is potentially a flat of 90 square meters, with already a lot of protection against fires, thunderstorms et cetera. And it is...

In every city, you can find thrown transport tickets on the ground. Here, the idea is to imagine a quick and inexpensive recycling way, limited to erase the inks printed on the ticket. The collection must be easy in order to be adopted by the transport users. A ticket bin should be placed at the exit of the train (or the metro / bus). When you quit your transport, you throw your ticket at it. Then, the company collects the used tickets, clean the inks and can print new tickets. A...

Recycle two products highly consumed in every workplace could provide a new plastic with perfect properties: impact resistance and toughness. Company bins are full of these two products. At EPFL and in a lot of laboratories in the world, there is a huge consumption of gloves. Unfortunately, these disposable gloves have a very short lifetime. Nowadays, nitrile gloves are preferred to those in latex. Contrary to the latex, the nitrile is recyclable. Plastic cups are most of the time in...
